Icelandic Landscapes

Below are a few photos from our amazing time in Iceland

There are many impressive landscapes in Iceland, from Geothermal springs to glaciers. It’s definitely is a landscape of fire and ice.

Leaving Keflavik airport you immediately get a sense of the desolate, rugged landscape created by the lava fields in the Reykjanes Peninsula. The famous Blue Lagoon is south of the airport along with the geothermal fields of Seltun near Krýsuvík.

The main road in Iceland is called Route 1. From Reykjavik, this road takes you on a circular route around Iceland. Travelling south east you will notice the lack of trees and the ever changing landscapes from flat lands, impressive glaciers, volcanos to vast lava fields. All are equally as impressive and you’ll want to stop to take photos at every opportunity. There a few designated parking spots, so as a passenger, you might resort to taking photos while travelling from place to place.

The end of our journey east stopped at the Jökulsárlón lagoon which is an impressive glacier lagoon, where you can take a boat ride among icebergs. Or walk along the black beach where smaller icebergs wash up.

Be mindful of…

The weather can change quite quickly, make sure you layer your clothes.

Food in Iceland is very expensive – make sure you plan for this.
