Sorrento – the town of Limoncello
Sorrento is a town perched on a cliff overlooking the Bay of Naples with Mount Vesuvius in the distance. It’s a beautiful town famous for the aperitif Limoncello.
Sorrento is a great place to wander around especially in the evenings when the main road is closed so people can promenade down the main street, or people watch in many of the bars and restaurants.
We also used it as a base to visit other places in the area like taking a boat to the designer island Capri or to the spa island of Ischia. Travel on the local train to visit Mount Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Pompeii and Naples or a hair-raising bus ride along the coast to Positano on the beautiful Amalfi coast.
