Below are a few photos of our time in Venice

The city of canals.

Venice is the most unusual city we have ever visited. We know that within the city there are no roads but to actually experience this was an eye opener. To realise that everything you purchase and use is brought into the city via a barge is fascinating.

The highlights are definitely St Mark’s Square and Basilica, the Campanile, and Doge’s palace.

Its a beautiful city to explore as well as the surrounding islands which have their own unique feel from glass making at Murano, to the colourful buildings of Burano.

The gondola ride is definitely a must. It gives you an amazing perspective of the canals which you wouldn’t see just walking around. The gondoliers are extremely skilled at navigating their gondolas through the busy winding canals.

Having breakfast on the Grand Canal is one of the most decadent things we have done. We felt like movie stars.

There are quiet area’s within the city away from the tourists where the locals live.
