The designer island of Capri

The designer island of Capri

Visiting Capri lets you live the highlife, if only for a couple of hours. One of the great ways of getting around Capri is the funicular which takes you from the Marina Grande directly uphill to the main Piazzetta. The most fashionable square in the world on the designer island of Capri. However you can take a taxi or bus up to the top but it’s not for the faint-hearted with its windy narrow roads clinging to the rockface.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford to go into any of the amazing designer shops in the town but we enjoyed strolling down the Via Camerelle, window shopping and imagining that we could buy certain items. We consoled ourselves by eating at a great outdoor restaurant in the Piazzetta and passed the time people watching before taking the funicular back down to the Marina Grande and embarked on our boat back to Sorrento.

The Blue Grotto is one of Capri’s best-known natural sites. It’s a dark cavern where the sea glows an electric blue which is from sunlight passing through the underwater cave. There are rowing boat tours which will take you there.
