A place of miracles

A place of miracles

The Pisa complex is based to one side of the town. It consist Duomo, the bell tower and baptistery as well as a couple of other buildings.

We didn’t have long to explore the place as we were with an organised tour. We visited the Duomo first which is a beautiful cathedral and well worth going inside. Unfortunately the baptistery was closed so we walked over to the tower.

We decide to go to the top of the tower to see the views over Pisa. Surprisingly the tower is hollow inside apart from the narrow staircase wrapping itself around the inside wall of the tower. We only had 15 minutes to get to the top of the tower and back down again which is quite a short amount of time. Climbing the tower is not easy due to the lean and the climb does get harder as you get nearer the top. Standing at the top of the tower is not for the fainthearted, the lean on the tower and the height does make you feel unstable.
